Lots of Changes at Aronson Woodworks

October 11, 2014

Well, once again its been a while since I have let any of you know what has been going on behind the doors of Aronson Woodworks.  This year has been a blur, especially recently, I am about half way through relocating my shop, and we were blessed another little Aronson to the family 3 weeks ago.   We’ve also been lucky enough to get into a couple magazines.  If you got one of the home show magazines, you can see one of our box top tables on the cover and a few places inside.  Cristen Schipper did the interior design in the home that was the best of show in 2013 and we were fortunate to have her use one of our tables.  Thanks Cristen!

The “ia” magazine was just unveiled this Tuesday.  It is the annual publication of “dsm” magazine, except it goes state-wide.  We were featured as one of Iowa’s small businesses in the magazine.  It’s an honor to be highlighted in this prestigious publication, and our deepest thanks to the team at Business Publications.

The tweaking of finishes continues, I had a request to get the spanish dove looking even darker, so I have come up with one that is pretty much black and white.  There is also the negative of that doing a white base coat.  These are a lot of work, but I love how it makes the awesome grain that Ash has, stand out even more.

Below are a couple that have gone out of state as well.  The one on the left went to Kansas City, and the one on the right now lives in Mexico City.

The next are just a couple other cool looks.  (Left) This one was made from wood that I milled myself.  Local red oak that was milled fresh has a lot more character than that bought from a supplier.  (Right) I really like the natural ash top on the dark metal base , but that is actually just the Mexico city table before I put the Spanish Dove finish on it.

Here is the little Aronson I mentioned… Grace Elizabeth.  Born September 18th, weighing 8 pounds, 14 ounces, and 19.5 inches long.  She and her mom are happy and healthy, and big brother Logan is starting to warm up to her.  We are truly blessed.

And the new shop!!  The new shop is located north of 35/80 off the 14th street exit.  It will remain by appointment only for now, but the address is 5485 NE 17th Street in Des Moines, Suite C (The back door of the suite, is currently my front door.)  Below is what it looks like from the outside.  I was unable to do anything for about 1 month, but now I have the machines back up and running.  I am still doing finish work in my old shop until my new spray booth is up and running,  so I am spread between two locations at the moment, but at least I am up and running again.  This is a very exciting step for the business, and this shop should shape up to be much more efficient than my old one, so hopefully I will start keeping up with the orders soon.  Thank you for everyone that has been so patient with me during the move.
